Lady & Anthony's Winter Shoot at Major's Hill Park

I first met Lady while shooting Kristina & John's wedding back in August, where she was one of Kristina's bridesmaids. I was excited to hear from her again and her idea of capturing engagement photos from each of the four seasons. This month, she was hoping to complete a "winter wonderland" shoot before the impending spring weather took effect.  Not only was the couple a lot of fun to work with, but it was a great opportunity to create some crisp and clean images that highlighted the recent snowfall in Ottawa.

The couple is currently looking forward to their spring and summer photo session. I hope this shoot builds upon their theme nicely!

Baby Theo's First Portrait Session

It seems like we've hit the point in our lives where a good number of our friends are welcoming the arrival of their first child....us included!  It's always super exciting and we greatly enjoy meeting the new bundles of joy.

So, when we got word a couple of weeks ago that our friends Uyen and Matt had given birth to their precious baby boy Theo, I was delighted to hear that they wanted me to capture his first photos. The shoot was a lot of fun and it's always interesting trying to time the photos just right so that the newborns cooperate with our gentle prods to get them posed. ;) Below are some super cute snaps of the little "air bender" - hope our little one will be as photogenic when it arrives in May!

Headshots with the talented John Dapaah

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of shooting head shots for John, a professional pianist and music teacher whose wedding I also covered last summer (see Kristina & John's Tabaret Hall wedding). The shoot was located at the Steinway showroom in Ottawa, where John was able to use one of their impressive grand pianos for both his portraits and video recordings. In addition to shots of John, we were also able to include two of his students in the photos- budding protegees!  Here are a few excerpts from our shoot:.

Kristin & Jack :: Magical Rustic Wedding at The Herb Garden Stittsville

Kristin & Jack are an amazing couple. Meeting in high school, the two have been together for 13 years and supported each other through thick and thin including a big move away from family to Red Lake for their respective professions. When I was first contacted by Kristin to document her wedding in Ottawa back in January, we met for coffee with her mother to discuss the upcoming nuptials. I got the opportunity to hear about her rustic barn wedding vision, all the plans she had and hear the anticipation regarding her and Jack's big day.  Even though the wedding wouldn't be for another 10 months, I was already excited to shoot the event!

Straight out of pinterest heaven, the wedding was held at the Herb Garden, a beautiful and natural venue that included charming barn structures and a whimsical labyrinth full of fresh herbs. Their ceremony and reception would include many personalized and DIY touches that showed Kristin's impeccable taste and the love her family and friends have for her and Jack. Such touches included a wood plaque specially made by the Herb Garden's owner and officiant, lawn games, and favours and reception hall decorations put together by the groom's very own mother Cindy. The goblets, table runners, flower arrangements and signs were breath taking - she did an amazing job! The two have an incredibly strong bond with each other and their respective families and it was a pleasure being able to capture all of the special moments they shared together.

I would like to thank the lovely and talented Amy Sturgeon from Amy Sturgeon Photography  for second shooting the groom prep and ceremony and capturing some amazing photos. I also had an awesome time working with Kristin & Jack's creative videographer, Emily Beekmans. Her story-telling abilities are phenomenal!

Congrats to KT (KG now!) & Jack. May you have many amazing adventures to share in the future!

Cheers,

Sarah :)
